Jaycee was adopted along with her two siblings by a loving family of five after spending the first 8 years of her life being passed from home to home, many of those homes being unfit for children. She had been exposed to alcohol in vetro, and had fetal alcohol syndrome. Between the fetal alcohol and the hypervigilance due to her trauma, Jaycee was lost much of the time at home and at school. She had few friends and could not perform simple tasks consistently, such as taking care of her own hygiene. She forgot things, and wandered around the house when sent to do chores, having forgotten what she was supposed to be doing. At The Green House Center, Jaycee was treated by a therapist to build up her social skills and at the same time was given Neuro-feedback. Today, Jaycee is on her cheer squad at her junior high school, has friends, and functions well in her family. She is a cheerful, active young woman.
